In a galaxy where parallels are in orbit with each other, it is not uncommon to hear of parallels collapsing. It is not uncommon for refugees from fallen parallels to relocate to places of stability where the risk of collapse is low.

For every parallel, fallen or otherwise, people are chosen to be Warriors of forces such as Honor and Joy, Truth and Strength. Warriors become devoted to the study of these forces. Clara Herschel, resident of the parallel Irvetta, is familiar with these studies as, at one point in time, her brother was chosen as a Warrior of Hope. But that was before, and now things have changed.

And change is still occurring. All Clara wants is to finish her schooling, pursue her career assignment, and find a remedy for the suffering in her family. However, when the people of Irvetta discover their home is self-destructing, Clara finds herself a pupil of Grace and understanding how salvation can come to her parallel and her House—if she lets it.
